As well as being one of the best activity providers in Cornwall, St Ives Surf School also offers a huge selection of Surf, Paddleboard and kayak equipment to hire so you can truly make the most out of your time on holiday in Cornwall. Our surf and Watersports rental is available from our sites on Porthmeor and Porthminster Beach. Secure changing rooms and safe valuable storage is also provided upon request. All Rentals will require ID and parental consent for children under 16.
Our HQ on Porthmeor beach, holds an extensive array of surfboards, Bodyboards and wetsuits available for rental. Everything from longboards, shortboards, mid-lengths and Softboards. Bodyboarding in St Ives is particularly great with young kids. At Porthminster Beach on the Harbour side of St Ives, our Watersports Centre is operational from May to October (weather dependant). We have Paddleboards, Single and Double Kayaks for rent. Talk with our staff for advice on the best option for the conditions and that will best suit your needs

All our paddleboards are the highest quality inflatables in the industry and made by leading brand Red Paddle Co. The boards are available in various sizes and paddles can be adjusted to your height.

Our sea kayaks are extremely stable and easy to use. They are sit-on-top kayaks with an open deck and available in single and double, two-person model. Buoyancy aids are included free of charge.

Yes, long term hire is available at a discounted rate for any rentals of 3 days or more.

Kayak and paddleboard rental at Porthminster Beach is restricted to our operational boundaries that are marked by yellow buoys. You are not allowed to paddle out of sight from our Watersports Centre but may use the full width of the beach.

We use high quality 5/3mm winter wetsuits. We work with a variety of different brands including; Alder, Srface and C-Skins.

Yes, Porthmeor Beach is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards from Easter to October and Porthminster from May to September.

We have a huge fleet and always do our best to accommodate all of our customers. If you are a large group then give us a shout and we’ll make sure your’e covered. Long term hire (minimum of 3 days) can be reserved.
Mornings are generally quietest and when we have most availability.

Children under 10 will need to be accompanied by a non surfing adult in the water, we will provide winter wetsuits free of charge.
